I have been a fishkeeper for a while now, but have never gotten a flowerhorn. I have been a fan forever, but never got around to getting one. I have a full grown hybrid fish, but not a flowerhorn (i believe a barred midas X carpintis/green texas). Here is my first flowerhorn, a Jing Kang. He is still quit tiny. I got him at about 1-2 inches, and now he is a little bigger. This guy is a good starter fish. Right now I have 3 tanks, with mostly american cichlids or parrots. By the way, will this guy change colors at all, or is this basically the coloring of the fish at adult age? The flash washed out a lot of the red. The red looks redder in person. This guy moves around too much to take photos with no flash. Maybe the next set of photos will have some non-flash photos. You can see his KOK forming here (it gets bigger each time I clean the tank!) ![]() You can see its pearling: ![]() Flairing JK; he always flairs up at the catfishes: ![]() Normal photo of JK: ![]() |

i think as long as hes dominant in that tank hes fine.. but yeah, most Fh hobbyist does not want to risk the chance of having any damages to their Prized possessions and also like to push them to the limit, giving space, great quality food and plenty of time and devotions.. just like rearing a newborn smiliee its a beautiful thing your golden base is truely a eye catcher.. it is very nice in my book.. very young and sure looks like it has potential to show you more of what it has. color wise.. depending on food, and care, this one will brighten up with age.. the goldness will be stronger and redness will show more hmm thinkingscratchingchin looking at the pic more and more.. from the body shape, pearls and finnages.. i dont think this is a JK..but more over a golden Based ZZ .. i had one of these.. lets see if i could find it.. i dont know let see what others think thumbs up |

I have this guy in a 120 right now (with parrots), so he will be ok for a little while. I will be getting a 75 with my tax money, so i guess the tank will go to my little JK or golden flowerhorn. |

very nice jk. the color will get better as it grow older. I think it will be fine in there since you don't have any other flowerhorn in there with it. May be you can get another masterpiece fh for your upcoming tank. That will be very cool |
