The GM arrived stressed/sick/skinny, and I started to pump him up and here are the progress. I will keep on updating him in this thread journal style every two weeks or so. Size:4" Diet: Chingmix SP80 HB & Maxima/MK shrimp/Hikari Bio-gold When he first arrived: Three days ago: With flash Without flash Enjoy and any comments are welcome! JP

I got him because I loved the pearls on his head. I honesty have NO IDEA how the color on the body is going to turn out. I guess only time will tell. I will keep you all updated. JP

I guess I will change it out to see if it will make any positive difference it will make in the colors once he's grown a little more. JP

9" Adults Posts: 917 Group: Members Member #4,231 Joined: September 15, 2007	yea i thought i reconized him.get rid of that black backround or put him in another tank flowerhorns hate black backrounds i just sold a tank i had with a black backround because evry fh i put in there lost its color and there heads went down.go with a more colorfull backround or even no backround.also get rid of those black rocks they hate those black rocks go with red or blue rainbow or crushed coral feed him grand sumo red and he will brighten right up

9" Adults Posts: 917 Group: Members Member #4,231 Joined: September 15, 2007	also letting you and others know have got a few reports of chingmix sp80 turning fish black.get him off the mix buy some grand sumo red off aquaticwonderland.its only 30 bucks for a 550 gram bottle.i just switched to sumo red 3 days ago and my fish koks are firmer,and color has gotten much better

The chingmix isn't causing any de-pearling problems so far, and I assume it's because I am feeding may other foods along with it. If I see anything unusual in colors, I will stop using it, but for now I don't see a point. As far as the background, I made it black on purpose so that all my FH's can darken up. I am now seeing deep red coming in his body, and I am sure if I had no background or light colored ones, the red will be pale red(for now) In my past experiences, black background and gravel has worked for me on all types of fish, and that is what I am going to go with for now smiliee I really do appreciate the info and knowledge though youdaman JP

It is starting to get the redness back and the gold on the gills are becoming more viberant. It's only been a week since last update, so nothing much has changed otherwise. What do you guys think??? Try rotating the shrimp and pump him up more with frozen bloodworms. I think that would be a better combo treat. good luck brother and He is looking like a great potential masterpiece GM.
