I'm workin on gettin these two to cozy up to each other. When I put the male in with her before, he'd show no interest, and she'd whoop on him, so I took him out for a while and put in a divider. They've been in the same tank, divided for a week or so now, and they've both began digging like mad, and they shake their bodies back and forth at each other and such, and seem to now be on the same page. My question is, when do I take the divider out? I haven't seen any breeding tube yet, never seen her drop tube before. I've never had to divide my pairs before, they've always just liked each other right away. Help? Also, does anyone know if this cross has a higher chance of being fertile, since the species are so similar? Or doesn't that matter at all? Cool, I must be the first fish breeder ever to put a divider between his fish. Well, it's neat to be a pioneer in the field I guess. |

New interest is a good sign but since there was earlier incompatibility would help to wait until she is egg laden (does not look like that if the posted pic is recent). How much bigger is male compared to female? |

Thanks. The pic is not recent. The male is probably 5-6 inches, the female is 1-1.5 inches shorter. |
