hi Guys.. im soooo new here.. haha.. hope Im welcome! anyway, Just wana shaRe my FlowerHorns.. i got my frst Fhs laSt year.. in Other words, Im stiLL a newBie at FloweRhorn raising.. :) ur commenTs and suggestIons will be hIghly appreciated guys... also, if u Guys could identify their strains..id be so happY...  TheSe are my adult Fhs.. SImud and Dumis.. i duno if theyr stiLL gona have koks... theyRe both about 7inches t-t at present..   this is My Gurl, Tennie.. Bot her for 2Bucks.. :)   and this lil Guy here is nameD Legion.. i bot him Just the other day for les than a Buck at our local mall.. hope he's got potential..   there u go Guys.. hehe..my Fhs arent as FlasHy as the Other fHs ur used to seeing, but i love them anyway!

Hello Hayley, you are more then welcome here...glad to have you here with us. The first 2 fishes happen to be a classic looking Red Dragon ZZ and as for the hump it probably won't get any bigger then it is....This type of hump is what we call HARD HEAD. For the female llok good..she's hot.  Now for the last one..the one for less then the buck.. That little guy have good protential the way I see it. Wow. Your two little ones are the best. I love that little tiny thing you got for less than a buck. Cute fishes at cute prices. For ID, I would guess all are considered ZZs except the last one is Kamfa. Love that kamfa. Lets trade. |

yeah it's a male too. :) Im quite sure. Not that Im an expert but by looking at it, but a fish that small with that much pretiness in it has to be a male.. If you doubt me Hayley, we can bet. If it's a male I take that fish. If not you keep it.

I think it could also be ZZ x kamfa. I see a spot at he head and a fine lookin straight black body line. That's a kamfa type line. Maybe a ZZ x parrot? Look how cute that face of his!!? |

Your last comment is very refreshing . Some of us get caught in the material world of FH traits and forget they are living creatures that deserve care and love no matter their looks (if not for the fish... for our spiritual development).As posted by others, the first 3 are from ZZ strain. Female is best of them. The 2 males are market grade (at my locality); however, the colors and pearls are not typical of initial classic strains, specially second male. IRT the little "Legion"; that is a sweet catch for less than one buck  . It's very small and all stressed (who wouldn't if a giant hand was squashing you against glass  ); still looks good to me. Appears Kamfa and those guys are very slow developers compared to ZZ; so it might be awhile until we can tell with some certainty what it will become. Do frequent small water changes on Legion tank and add crushed coral to bottom (2 tbs/5 gal is ok); Kamfas bloom in stable water conditions. Welcome to FHRUS and  keep us updated on Legion, it's very educative to see how a cute one develops  .

thanx mentat! hehe..yeah.. some people do forget that Fish have feelings too.. if they look somewhat less equipped with beauty and quality, other people would smirk at them..which, for me, is a big NO NO.. FISH are living creatures, and we should respect theM.. i remember oNe instance wen i posted mY fishes' pix on one FH site, and this one person commented that I'm just wasting my time on my flowerhorns coz accDg. to him, they're not worth keeping., :( he reckons i should just Feed them to Eagles or something like that. :( of course, as a passionate Owner, i was deeply hurt.. i Know thaT my FhS are no matcH for those beautiful Ones that other Pipol own, but i Realy dont caRe..coz i love and care for my pets.. i just Hope ol of us would realIze that Fishkeeping is not ol aBout SHowing off and bragging aBout how pretty our fishes are, but also about Respecting Them as creatures who have feelings. :) hehehe.. peace out! :) |
