If we ask nicely for uncle lucky to post up some pix for a show and tell, he would be gladly to do so when he has the time.

We know that pearls are pretty but what about the colorations to these pearls?

My golden monkey has gold pearls

We see king kamfa has giant white pearls

We even see blue pearls on some of our fish like from the blue dragon line

We even see some on our fish to have the all so common green pearls

So what is the deal with these different coloration pearls to our fishes? Anyone knows or want to talk about it?

GM with metalic sky blue pearls! Some GMs pearls are not golden but blue. Not sure what causes different pearl coloration. His main staple was Amazon, BW, and Krill; all good at promoting red colors.

"No. Five" broke his back a couple months after pic was taken sad .

I too am interested in this. My thought is...You gotta trace backwards to see what your xbreed is made of. Kamfas have strong vieja genes thats how most kamfas pearlage have very distinct color variations and patterns

Check out this vieja. Its posted up as a Bifas but I think it might be a Viejas bifas x syn. Whatever it is,its nice cool guy
Check out the red pearls grinning

Coloration of pearls are definitely from genes....but I think different type of pellets, food (ie, shrimps, krills, worms, etc.), and condition of the water are really what make the pearls change color.

Cool thread! Different pearl coloration does come from the different pure species used in FH ancestry. Lighting plays a big role in altering pearl color. Diet/nutrition also can have affects on pearl color. Many factors...

I know for a fact because I have witnessed it before that my fish has blue pearlings outside of them flowering but then on other days and as the natural lighting from the sun would hit it, it turns to green and stays green.

I don't have any king kamfa to play with so I can not tell if white pearls will turn any other color but my best bet is it will not turn green or blue but maybe to golden or a dirty coloration of yellow.

I'm using the theory of painting here. Dark like green and blue goes together and light like white and yellow or gold goes together like how our teeth can get stained and changed colorations.

You can't get white pearls unless you're from the kamfa line. I have never seen a ZZ with white pearlings.

If a fish get stress, would their pearls turn to a temporary black color as well?

I have my kamfa monkey frys with me and the best way to see them stressing is when they sleep. The pearlings on them does not change to black but it is still golden or yellowish.

Now wouldn't it be something if you have a fish with multi coloration pearls?
