Hello,

My FH has some black or yellowish tiny dot on his body. Most of the dot are very small but some are quite bigger.

Anyone here can tell me what is that? The small dot grow more and more. It has been 2 months on his body. At the very begining just few dot now be more and more. And some dot feel like grow bigger. But i am not so sure.

My aquarium always in clean condition, i change 50% water every 7 days.

I not able to take picture to show here, because the black dot are too small.

How to cure? What is that? Any opinion?
Please help.

Thank you,
SIM

Most likely Lymphocystis... very common viral disease in FHs that you have to let run through its life cycle.

http://www.aquarticles.com/articles/management/Lawler_Lymphocystis.html

The pic in the link above of the heavily infected bass is an extreme case. FHs usually get a "pimple" or two... and then they go away. Some FHs can get many... some take longer to pass then others. It is only life threatening in the worst of cases.

Ahhhh... what a pic can do!

I haven't seen those "bugs" yet on a FH. Interesting... seen those more in reef fish & pond bred African cichlids. Dang good eyes to spot those!

They are skin flukes... or Monogeneans (flukes).

I would get a good ectoparasite med. If they are really tough to get rid of use Fluke Tabs, though I think it is best in this case to use something less strong like copper sulfate. That should be able to eliminate this bug. It is easier to treat ectoparasite infections.

Agree with Bro Lucky, them bad boys are flukes. Yep, if copper sulfate does not kill them, give them the Flukes Tab treatment (meds sometimes causes loss of fish color but that is temporary).

I would do a couple of treatments at full dosage. Then I would check again to see if the bugs come back. If the bugs are still there after 2 treatments then i would switch to Fluke Tabs after a waterchange.

*Copper Sulfate will make your fish flicker the gills... (looks like fish is coughing). That is a normal reaction & rapidly the fish will go back to its normal self.

good luck

Where should i buy Fluke Tabs? If i want to get it online, which website is recommended? I m outside of US and Canada.

In addition, how many do i need it for treatment?

Thank you for advise,

One more way to get rid of them is to give your FH a medicated bath or dip.

I don't have my charts with me now. When I get beck downtown I will look up what baths or dips would be good for your FH.

Just my side of observation. Before medication remove all carbon in filter box/trays & ceramic rings.

Raise temp to 30C. Follow medication procedures of dossage for 3 days. After 3 days if no improvements, repeat same process for 1-2 weeks.
