Hello there, I have a flower horn from about a year, a few days ago started developing a cotton like ball near her left fin. it was small but now it has started growing and it has almost become the size of 1 inch. its just a big pink cotton like stuff and it even breaks out into small pieces some times. i can see that the fish is quite uneasy. please please help me if you can. just way to worried about it" ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

That look very bad. You should try to treat it in a separate 10 gallon or 20 gallon tank to save medicine. I suggest go out there buy medicine for parasite infection that have metronodize active ingredient in it. Keep water clean by changing it every two day. Keep temp between 80 -84. Add salt with every water change. Good luck. |

OMG that's one serious case of Lymph! What's up with so many FH breaking out with Lymph this year>>> yikes!!! Anyhow if that doesn't go away in a couple of months while in quarantine... I would put it out of its misery bro. Here is another good link with info on "Cauliflower Disease"... aka Lymph. http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/profiles/d100004.htm *In a more rare case it can be another type of tumor... I doubt it though because it shows classic signs of Lymph with that cauliflower shape. Edited by Lucky, Sep 17 2008, 01:07 PM.

Oh, I should add that if you cure a FH with Lymph... it then will become immune to it thereafter. I wonder if Lymph tends to become more prevalent in summer months? Well...

Do not add medications (i.e. Metro) to treat Lymphocystis since virus is inmune to them. Keep fish alone and try not to move it, since stress and/or injuries will further spread lesions on fish. Virus is genus specific so it's very contagious to FH and all related cichlids. Do not share any equipment among tanks and do wash your hands if they contact that tank. In most cases the virus will go away on its own in a month. Your fish lesion is close to the gills, if it spreads there and interferes with breathing might need to remove mass with sharp sterile razor (take fish from water, place it on a flat surface with clean towel, then carefully scrape or cut off the infection). Be aware this might help breathing; but could also cause more lesions or a secondary infection. I've had very good results with fish recovery and preventing secondary infections by adding a daily dose of Melafix (Aquarium Pharmaceuticals) to water for as long as fish showed symptoms (do keep-up with weekly water changes). and hope he gets better soon. |

oh, this is really bad. Ill suggest following what bro mentat suggest. In addition, raise temp to 30C. Hope the fish gets well. Do update so that we can some track record for future newbies to refer to. :) |
