i've notice my fh has tiny white spots on its caudal fin. the white spots are perpendicular to the lines on the fin. im wondering if they are just traits or something i should be concerned. the fh activity level are normal. this is my first fh and the spots have been there since ive got him a week ago. ive been keeping a close eye on it. what do you guys think?

these are the best shots i can take. the spots go down the middle of the caudal fin.

hmm..when u said white spots i was thinking white snowy spots like "ick" disease which is easily treated (with increased temperature to 88 degrees or so and medication from LFS), but i can't seem to see anything abnormal. maybe we need better pix. if u see little snow balls attached to his body tho, it's ick and can be treated easily.

yea ive tried taking over 40 shots and those are the best ones that show up on the camera. maybe ill shoot a vid to show you what im talking about. the white spots extend from top to middle. its been there since i got him and its not spreading or anything. when you say snowy spots would they for example look like a pimple or zit something that we would get?

sorry folks those are not the spots im talking about. the spots are on the fin or the tail.

this is what im talking about. the spots are no larger than a grain of salt and extend from the middle of the fin to the top.

OIC now...

Lymphocystis... very common viral disease in FHs that you have to let run through its life cycle.

The pic in the link above of the heavily infected bass is an extreme case. FHs usually get a "pimple" or two... and then they go away. Some FHs can get many... some take longer to pass then others. It is only life threatening in the worst of cases.

that could be the case. so you say its common for the fh. and no cure since its a viral infection, that sucks. its kinda like the fish has herpes and there's nothing that can be done.

Yup... just have to let it run its course bro. Up the waterchanges & slow down on feeding... that can sometimes help. It can come & go throughout the FHs lifespan. It is mostly just an eye sore.

welcome bro... yeah 20%-30% weekly should be fine.

Can take as little as a few days to a few months to disappear. I had FHs in perfect health that had Lymph spots on them their whole life. The spots would turn pinkish & start to get larger if water quality went bad. When water quality was consistently good the spots would disappear or some would still stay there. When the resistant spots stayed on the fish they became grey in color & smaller as if the virus was in remission.

good luck

Oh, forgot to mention that adding veggies in the diet is a good preventative method for Lymph in addition to keeping the water in check.
