hey supper! yeah i have a kamfa kamalau and i just bought a female texas cichlid and i think she's a hybrid of the grey texas and i think the green texas. she looks pretty cool, she has a grey body but on top of that her pearls are shiny green. ok my question is she's in there with my kamfa and the kamfa is arrogant man he's being a peanut and just chasing her. the female is just now tired and hanging around at the top corner. what to do? or is this part of nature before breeding starts.

Hey IMO you should probably set up a divider in the tank. Let them get used to seeing each other without one getting messed up. Its not all the time you can just plop a fish in a tank and come up with some fry. If you are trying to breed them you should put a divider in, crank up the temp a little, starting pumping them up and hopefully they will get interested and you can take it from there. Who knows, but others might think its fine just keeping her in there. I am no expert so lets see what other people recommend. Hope things go well for you

appears they are not compatible.. just like us humans.. we dig some chicks..while others arent tasty enough.

well with breeding..its not always easy.. either its one thing or another and then at times..its just natural..they do what needs to get the generation going.

well if you want to test things out.. maybe placing a divider first and wait to see when she's ready to lay then take the divider out.. another is maybe making a place for her to hide and take cover..id say play with what you have..for that is one way to learn..

but hope many will share their inputs of how they do theirs.

good luck on the project and if possible please post your pair

Josh, thats good advice!

Adding a male and a female together directly is not a good idea. A partition is definitely the way to go :)

Call me an oddball... more often than not I dump them into together. Works abt 90% of the time, see my breeding threads.

When it doesn`t just try putting them together for awhile, remove them and keep trying!
What other people think of you is none of your business.

my luck with breeding is about 90 percent. and yes the divider is the safest way to find out how they will act together. another way is to make a hole big enough in the egg crate to let the female go through. but the male cant. this way she can have a safe place to go when she is scared. I have used this on my breedings and they keep the fish from getting tore up. G/L on the breeding
