SO my pride MP kokster mysteriously died today. It was fine eating well and everything this morning and it was fighting itself in the mirror before i left to get free dennys. My chocolate pleco was in the tank with him and he was thriving as well. I came home, the tank water was kinda cloudy and my chocolate pleco and flowerhorn were both dead on the floor. Their fins had turned white and looked bleached. The water smells like straight bleach. The temperature was 84 degrees and i took my water to get tested and it was perfect. But yet they were both dead and the tank smells like bleach. Any explanations? |

How do i do chlorine test? I did a Ph test, ammonia, nitrogen etc etc but my water came out perfect. It was the only fish i gave a Shoot about and him and the pleco both died while i was gone. I was only gone 2 hours and before i left he was flared up fighting himself in the mirror and eating tons of gs. The pleco was eating away and had a huge Shoot strand. When i got back it was clear water but had a cloudy tint to it and there was bubbles on top of the water. The whole room smelled of bleach... maybe someone murdered my fish? |

It wouldnt make sense for it to be chlorine, bc i always use aquasafe on my water changes plus my last water change was 4 days ago and up until this point it was fine. I mean up until the last time i saw it before it was dead his kok was exploding and he was fighting himself in a mirror. 2 hours later, the tank smells different, the water looks different, both fish are suddenly dead, and not only are they dead but their fins are all white like they were bleached. Not even 2 hours and this all the sudden?? Ever been heard of before? |

Or my jealous friend i left in my room by myself before we left >.< haha but i seriously dont think it was him. He was as surprised as me. Funny thing is, is that my bleach in my house is almost empty but i cant remember how much was in it before. He was literally a MP. Sad day for me |

I would like to say that i did but unfortunately i dont.. i was holding off on showing him until i got my better camera's charger bc my phone camera seriously sucks. If i take a pic of any fish its just a blur bc it has like a 5 second delay before it takes the pic and when it does take the pic it doesnt capture movement well at all. I talked about this fish months ago though as my only fish with Mp potential and a huge kok... i would of took a pic when i find him dead/dying but all his fins had been stained white and i didnt want to look or think about it any longer so i threw him out quickly. I guess i might be stepping back from actual FH and just keep on my SRT track. I guess if i look at it positively, i now have an extra 75 gal i can use :) haha |

sounds like foul play.. sorry bout that lil bro.. but people have done that.. in my life i saw it twice that someone added bleach to the tank.. and not all the time that the fish will always die.. depends on the concentration. well hope you could find a replacement soon.. i will start decreasing some fish for space to grow out what i want.. maybe i could offer you some |

I found some old pics of my MP when he was a baby :( im so  :( Then was when he was a wee lad.          He was everything i could ever dream for :( i used to put a female in with him 15 minutes a day so his kok would pop. I would put my fish in a room were you can lock it up from everyone. fish tanks just dont start to smell like bleach with in 2 hours. BTW sorry to hear some thing like this. |

So sorry to read about you loss. I would be questioning some people. You checked the bleach and it is almost empty and you said you do not recall using it??? Sure seems strange to me. Wow - I can't even imagine how I would react to something like that. |
